Have you ever stopped to think about how good it feels when you finally get home? We often take that sense of comfort for granted, but there’s something deeply powerful about being in a space that makes you feel safe and secure.
Life, however, has a way of showing us what truly matters when we least expect it—and often, we don’t slow down enough to learn the lesson. Speaking from personal experience, significant events like the loss of a loved one, a health scare, or a career setback can be wake-up calls, offering us a chance to reflect and clear the mental fog. But why do we wait for these moments to evaluate what’s important in our lives?
I’ve asked myself that question countless times as I’ve watched friends and family navigate their own pivotal experiences. Then, in June 2024, I faced my own wake-up call when I lost my mom to cancer. It was a moment that forced me to stop and reassess my life—my relationships, health, and career. It became clear that I needed to find balance and purpose to seek fulfillment in everything I do.
Upon reflection, I realized that the role I’d walked away from had far more to offer than I initially recognized—things like a supportive work culture, a manageable work-life balance, and meaningful, impactful work. Returning to empac has allowed me to realign with what I truly want, and the time away gave me the clarity to see that personal well-being is just as crucial as professional success.
Sometimes, the best decision isn’t about climbing higher; it’s about reconnecting with what brings joy and purpose. I’ve always felt privileged to work for and alongside local organizations in Wichita throughout my career. Returning here feels like coming home, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back to a community that means so much to me.
